Why does it ask for VPN permission?

Processing DNS inside the device requires the operating system's local VPN interface. That interface only claims our own resolver address; the rest of your traffic keeps flowing over your ISP connection and never reaches a server of ours.

Some ads still appear

Blocking happens at the DNS layer: when an ad is served from the same domain as the content, DNS cannot tell them apart. Some apps — Chrome and Firefox among them — also resolve DNS themselves over HTTPS, which no DNS-based blocker can see. Turning off "Secure DNS" in your browser lets the blocking apply there too.

Does it work with Android's Private DNS setting?

Android's system-level Private DNS takes precedence over our engine. Leave it on "Off" or "Automatic" while using NoirShield.

A site was blocked by mistake

Add an "Allow" rule for that domain under Protection → Custom rules; your own rules take priority over the bundled lists. Telling us about the false positive also lets us fix the list.

My connection got slower

The "Measure" button on the DNS screen times the resolvers on your network and lets you switch to the fastest in one tap. Which resolver is quickest varies by ISP and location.

How do I report a problem?

Run the checks on the Diagnostics screen and press the copy button at the top right: a summary with your network type and test results is copied to the clipboard. It contains nothing that identifies you. Sending that to info@7stock.app lets us find the problem far faster.
